Man speaks: "Auburn (?), Illinois, November twenty-fourth, eighteen ninety-eight, Thanksgiving Day, at three o'clock PM, at 5615 Superior Street. Present [all names approximated phonetically], Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Crary, Mrs. Peter Prescott, Mr. and Mrs. William P. Taft, George Dunlop, Hattie Crary, Lewis Crary, and the cat, for he wouldn't stay away." Then group sings "Nearer, My God, To Thee" and man recites part of Psalm 103. Note: there is no Superior Street in Auburn, but the place name sounds more like this than like "Austin," where there is such a street, or "Alton," as noted on a modern slip found with the cylinder.
